City Council Election 2022

After serving the city on the ZBA and P&Z Board for the last 6 years, Dutch is running for council district 5 again.

For immediate release:

Another contender has entered the race for district 5 city council election.

Bernd “Dutch” Deblouw. Owner of Longview IT and previous city council hopeful has turned in his application on wednesday.

After his 2016 council run, which was won by then incumbent councilman David Wright. Dutch served as board member and president of the Zoning Board of Adjustments and now serves on the Planning and Zoning Commission.

“I believe that over the last 6 years I’ve proven that my heart is to serve the people of Longview in any capacity I can. I also believe that my track record speaks for itself and that I ask the hard questions and when necessary make the hard unpopular decisions for the long term betterment of the city”

Beyond the experience with city government Dutch’s experience includes a business degree. Several years of being a finance manager for 2 non profits. Being a long time business owner. And having been a firefighter both volunteer and professional.

"Getting hired by the Longview Fire department in 2010 brought me to the city.  Then the people (one special one in particular, my wife) kept me here. "

"Since moving to Longview I have built a business. And I’ve also built a home. It has given me a unique perspective on the things people deal with when dealing with the city. I believe I can represent the people well because of that."
