LIST OF ISSUES

Public Safety

The LPD has made great strides in the last several years, after dealing with a influx of murders and crime in the years prior. recent changes with the police chief and the new police station will hopefully continue to build on that.

Longview has a great fire department with many dedicated members serving this great community. I want to look at cost saving opportunities within the Fire department in order to serve the people better and be able to focus on prevention and education.

Housing

We have a great supply of apartments, we also have many nice neigborhoods available. I would like to see some more afforable housing developed in Longview, Homes that fit within the budget of the newly graduated people we want to attract for the new industries coming to town.

Economy

Diversification is key. The city has made good progress in attracting new business that are not directly related to the oil field. the Dollar General warehouse, the GAP warehouse to name a few.

As a council we should make great effort to accommodate business to open up in Longview, to stimulate job growth and development, and to increase our tax base

Fiscal Responsibility

We cannot afford to live outside of our means, We need

to balance the budget and be fiscally responsible.

In the current economic climate we can not afford

to carry a heavy debt burden. If we do, we will be

sacrificing our long-term freedom

Entertainment

The number one complaint I hear many times; There isnt much to do around town other then the movies or the mall. I want to see how we can make Longview more entertaining. In a family friendly way. There has been talk about a waterpark, and there are other ideas floating around.

Water

We need to stay in charge of our water, as we have seen in other states, water is starting to become a commodity like never before. Its hard to fanthom after the rains of 2015/2016 but we need to have a long term plan for water management and water health in our city.
